1897 Inkwell Presented to Yonkers Raceway Founder William H. Clarke

1897 Inkwell Presented to Yonkers Raceway Founder William H. Clarke

An exceptional metal-and-glass inkwell, this was presented to copper magnate William H. Clark, who founded Yonkers Raceway in 1899. This presentation piece pre-dates and is engraved on horseshoe "W.H. Clark 1st Jan 1897." It was presented to him on New Year's Day, and he passed away just three years later when his valuable estate went into spirited confusion among his heirs. Hence, this inkwell making it's way to the UK and now back. Gorgeous glass and plated brass on marble base, in EX-MT condition.
