1899 John L. Sullivan Handwritten Letter

1899 John L. Sullivan Handwritten Letter

Amazing treasure, wonderfully preserved, gives us insight into the personal life of the original American idol, John L. Sullivan. Personally handwritten (in black fountain pen) letter from the “Boston Strong Boy”, dated Dec. 29, 1899. Letter addressed to “My dear Sis”. Contents inform his sister that he will be sending her a check after he gets paid off. “I appreciate past favors… I am not one to forget… If things had been running my way, you surely wouldn’t have to waited as long as you have. Trusting you are well. Believe me, Yours Truly, John L. Sullivan”. Miraculously the ink has held up beautifully despite its age with very little fading. Signature remains a strong 9 out of a possible 10. Letter is creased 3 times, one crease runs through “S” in signature. 1” tears along one of the vertical creases and small tears in the middle of paper along 2 creases. Written on “John L. Sullivan” letterhead and comes with original “John L. Sullivan The American Cafe” mailing envelope. Letter is overall VG.
