1919 Cincinnati Reds World Series Pennant

1919 Cincinnati Reds World Series Pennant

In the 1919 World Series the Cincinnati Reds took on the Chicago White Sox and it resulted in the most famous scandal in baseball history. Eight players from the Chicago White Sox (later nicknamed the Black Sox) were accused of throwing the series against the Cincinnati Reds. Despite being acquitted of criminal charges, the players were banned from professional baseball for life. Among the eight men was the great “Shoeless” Joe Jackson. Very rare pennant sold at the 1919 World Series. VG condition and totally intact. Some fading of the felt and small hole at the bottom right hand corner. It’s amazing that this survived, and in such good condition. Eder Mfg. tag remains sewn on reverse.
