1940s Mutoscope Pinup Cards Vending Machine

1940s Mutoscope Pinup Cards Vending Machine

Magnificent coin-operated machine is dedicated to this and only this iconic card. Cards are by Mutoscope as is the machine. Once filled with cardboard renditions of these stunning lovelies of the period by the pen and brush of such celebrated pinup artists as Zoe Mozert, Earl Moran, Gil Elvgren and Rolf Armstrong. Machine is decidedly art deco with a strong sense of patriotism as this was right around WWII, perhaps the most patriotic we have been. Front glass is a sumptuous reverse painting on glass drawing you in to drop your nickel and get one of these indescribable cards. Machine has two levels, with one permanently stacked on the other. One is for card storage (missing easily replaceable back wood panel) and the other the guts. However, both stacks have large front display glass to draw you in like the spider and the fly. And what a spider that is. Machine is working. Machine is rare (we have heard of another but cannot conform). Machine is in beautiful condition. This “machine” as we call it, is just that. It is a time machine that takes you to a world of carnivals and side shows, carousels and cotton candy, skee ball and a date with Mary Ellen. And your youth.
