1961 World Series First Pitch Baseballs

1961 World Series First Pitch Baseballs

No small no name could ever throw the ceremonial first pitch of a World Series Game. And “Dummy” Hoy was surely no dummy. The deaf mute ballplayer was able to post big numbers before the turn of the century and was elected to throw this ONL (Giles) baseball to commence Game 3 of the 1961 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds. Second ball also an OAL (Giles) was thrown for ceremonial first pitch to start Game 3 by Hall of Famer Bill McKechnie. Each ball is inscribed, “First Ball Thrown” with the date on a separate panel and “World Series” plus the score of each Game. Obtained from publicity director for the Cincinnati Reds in charge of pre-game ceremonies. LOA.
