Rogers Hornsby Original Release Letters from the Chatanooga Lookouts (2)

Rogers Hornsby Original Release Letters from the Chatanooga Lookouts (2)

Many baseball fans may not know that Hall-of-Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby tried to maintain his playing career well after his best days were behind him. In 1938, he managed and played for the minor-league Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern Association before being released. This display of Hornsby in his Lookouts uniform contains release letters from the organization. There are also three old newspaper clippings below the letters, two of which show Hornsby showing off his minor league uniforms. This stately 38x28.5" matted piece is housed in a stained wood frame with black stars and lettering down the sides which reads: "BASEBALL HALL OF FAME." There is a brass plaque at the base that reads: "ROGERS HORNSBY 1896-1963."
