1950s Grain Belt Beer Baseball Scoreboard Radio (Working!)

1950s Grain Belt Beer Baseball Scoreboard Radio (Working!)

Minneapolis Brewing Company Grain Belt Beer sponsored this scoreboard tube radio from the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is working and lights up, and was intended for commercial use in a bar. A sticker on the back identifies the device as a "Talking Scoreboard," and admonishes that "this electronic advertising sign is the property of the Minneapolis Brewing Co. and is loaned with the understanding that it will be prominently displayed." There’s no indication of who manufactured the set; it was intended however, for a Midwestern city that had different baseball loyalties so no one team is mentioned. It is a rare set, quite difficult to find. The radio measures approximately 18x10.5x4" and is made of hard plastic, with some wear around the sides, a 2" crack on the right side, a few scratches, wear to one of the knobs, and a deep 2" scratch by the lower volume knob. Interesting that this set is so hard to find.
