Alfred Vanderbilt's Personal Racing Silks

Alfred Vanderbilt's Personal Racing Silks

Culturally important, these silks were worn by this racing icon and one of the most famous men in America, Alfred Vanderbilt. They may have even been worn on Native Dancer or Discovery as they are the correct colors. This great family name is embroidered on the front in black, and it sports buttons with little race horses in relief. These are the colors for the stable, but this is his personal set based on the size of the silks (too big for a jockey) and the embroidered name. Tagged "A.Ed.Cohen Co 2464 Palm Ave Haileah FLA," and there was an unknown name(s) added in marker on the inside years ago and then crossed out, as they were likely passed down for later use. Comes with Alfred Vanderbilt's personal horse racing rule book #42 with his name embossed on gold on the cover, also from the same consignor.
