Presidential Signed Photos, Letters and Ephemera

Presidential Signed Photos, Letters and Ephemera

Sports and politics don't usually mix, but this collection shows Red Schoendienst communicating with U.S. presidents across the decades. Here's what's in the lot: a photo signed by George W. Bush showing Hall of Famers (including Red) at the White House in 2001. There's also another unsigned photo and press release from this very visit, as well as a luncheon menu and itinerary signed by Bush and several Hall of Famers, including Hank Aaron. There's also a 2001 White House letter to Red signed by Bush, a 1959 letter from Richard Nixon wishing Red a speedy recovery from his tuberculosis scare, an unsigned photo of Red with Nixon and a 1950s photo signed to Red by Nixon and a 1958 letter to Red from the White House signed by Dwight Eisenhower. There are several photos of Red with George H.W. Bush but are not signed, as well as a 2011 photo and letter from Michelle Obama thanking Red for supporting veterans. The materials here are mostly EX while the signatures average 8/10. There is additional correspondence from White House employees.
